Brompton’s Supports Jessie’s Fund

We are supporting Jessie’s Fund this year and will be announcing the date of a fundraising concert in due course.

Jessica George was lively and bright, and very musical. She was just nine years old when died from a rare and inoperable brain tumour. Her parents, violist Alan George (Fitzwilliam String Quartet) and clarinettist Lesley Schatzberger, set up Jessie’s Fund in her memory: the charity helps seriously ill and disabled children in all areas of the UK through the therapeutic and creative use of music.

Jessie’s Fund has equipped all 43 children’s hospices in the UK with musical instruments, established posts for music therapists at 33 of the hospices. Through its Soundtracks programme Jessie’s Fund gives children in special schools the chance to take an active part in music-making and provides staff with training and resources to use music more extensively.

Jessie’s Fund’s Patron is Victoria Wood. You can see her talking about why she supports Jessie’s Fund here. Find out more about Jessie’s Fund here.
