Rogeri, Pietro Giacomo

B. 1665, d.1724, Brescia

Worked for his father until his death around 1705, and thereafter alone. A younger brother, Giovanni Paolo (b.1667) seems to have died before 1705, but may have assisted in the shop. While capable of similarly fine work to his father, and continuing to use handsomely figured maple, he sometimes omitted the purfling on the back, and used a poorer quality of varnish. He tended to exaggerate Giovanni Battitsta's idiosyncracies, with even longer corners and extended, narrow soundholes, and some violins have very high archings.
