Lot Title

A Fine and Rare Italian Viola by Carolus Gagliano, Naples circa 1780

Description

A Fine and Rare Italian Viola by Carolus Gagliano, Naples circa 1780. This remarkable and rare instrument is very similar in style to the beautiful small model viola by Ferdinand Gagliano sold through these rooms on December 13th 2010 - this should not be surprising as looking at the label of this instrument it clearly states that he was the son of Ferdinand, rather than of Alessandro as is sometimes claimed.
