A very rare example of a Gennaro Gagliano violin, retaining the original neck, and bass bar, as well as being profusely covered in original varnish.
Gennaro was the son of Alessandro Gagliano, and felt by many to be the most sought after member of the family. His wonderful violins are generally of concert level and prized by soloists around the world for their power and beautiful tone.

This video presents a recording project on Emanuele Barbella, a Neapolitan composer of the 18th century. It was performed entirely on Gennaro Gagliano’s violin, which was loaned for the recording. The violin enabled a philological performance that revealed its exceptional acoustic qualities.
