Record-breaking results
We’ve achieved some wonderful world-record results for our clients:

The Ex-Partello, Ex-Galos:
A Violin by Nicolò Gagliano, Naples, 1761
£303,000

The Ex-Belli:
Violoncello Alfredo Contino,
Napoli, 1918
£54,000
Discovered at an appraisal day in Brisbane, a Giuseppe Rocca violin was sold by Brompton’s for a record price of £210,000. Its owner wrote:
“It’s not easy to part with a violin that has been a part of your life for almost 50 years. However, the time had come for me to say goodbye. Fortunately, Peter Horner was in Brisbane offering free valuations. Peter’s professionalism and kindness reassured me that the violin would be in excellent hands at Brompton’s.
And so it was, the outcome of the auction was beyond my expectations and for this I owe sincere thanks to all the members of the Brompton’s auction house.”

Over the years they have disposed of many instruments from our collection.
Due to their expertise we have never had an unsold lot and some have done very well.
In recent years my wife has been ill with dementia(sadly now passed away)
Peter and the Bromptons team have shown us every kindness and sincerity in selling some of our items.
In a difficult business I have always found their knowledge and honesty impeccable.
Kindest regards. Bill Piper.
I consider myself lucky to have met him and to have been able to appreciate his knowledge of the world of ancient and modern violin making.
A true champion.
Thank you !!
Will was very professional, knowledgeable and incredibly helpful! He took the time to understand the value of the violin and explained me all the auction process.
The auction was well organised and I was very happy with the final price!
Thank you for everything!!
High quality service.
Attention to transparency and high integrity representations.
Responsive to question and issues.
Expeditious and fair contracting and transaction assistance.
I wish I had more artifacts to sell through Bromptons!:))
I met Mr. Peter Horner (Brompton’s Chairman), as I had heard of his presence in Rome and was willing to evaluate two family violins for free.
After his careful inspection he explained the many details that we humans had lost and we were happy to know of a value that we did not expect.
I would like to thank Mr. Horner for his calm, disinterested and highly professional judgment.
I wish you the best,
Claudio Scocchera
I am very grateful for the fine work that went into sprucing up and restoring my Rocca, the article by John Dillworth, the certification by Peter Biddulph, and in the way it was honoured by Corina Belcea’s gifted playing. Finally, the outcome of the auction was beyond my expectations. My sincere thanks to all at Brompton’s.
