Length of back: 29 3/8ins, 745mm
Sold with a fitted case from W.E. Hill & Sons, bearing a brass plaque with the legend: Rachel Beck, Sherborne House, Hoddesdon, David Tecchler Roman 1701. Sold with the receipt of Withers (dated 1873) where the cello was sold for £50, and a further receipt from W.E. Hill & Sons for repairs, the case and engraving.. This cello has been in the possession of the vendor's family for the last century and remains in an exceptional state of preservation.
