The most distinguished of this bow making family was the Parisian maker known as Grand Adam, who succeeded to the business of his father Jean. Bows are much sought after and enjoyed by musicians. Heads of the hatchet model and in some cases the equal of the best Parisian work of that period. Frogs generally unlined at the base and are longer and lower than in most other bows. Branded ADAM in large letters on the side of the stick and his best bows are usually of octagonal form. All makers of the family seem to have produced a number of open-frogged bows.
