Fendt, Bernard Simon Jr.

B.1803, d.1852, London

Son of Bernard Simon I, also worked for John Betts until about 1723. Thereafter sold instruments under his own name, working in partnership with Charles Farn and later George Purdy, and his son William (1832-1852). Bernard Simon II had three brothers, Martin (1812-1845), Francis (ca 1815-1856) and Jacob (1815-1849) who all made violins for the London trade, all imitative copies of classical Cremonese work.
