Fiorini, Giuseppe

The son and pupil of Raffaele, he opened his own workshop in Bologna in 1887. His ideas and skills outstripped those of hs father, and in 1889 he was established in Munich with his business partner and father-in-law, Rieger. He worked as an expert dealer as well as a violin maker, and quickly achieved international recognition, and was made a 'Cavaliere' in 1927. The partnership dissolved in 1896, and during the First World War he moved to Zurich, returning to Italy in 1923. In 1920, he bought the relics of the Stradivari workshop form the Salabue family which eventually became the foundation of the Stradivari Museum in Cremona, thanks to his initaitives.
