The partnership dissolved in 1896, and during the First World War he moved to Zurich, returning to Italy in 1923. In 1920, he bought the relics of the Stradivari workshop form the Salabue family which eventually became the foundation of the Stradivari Museum in Cremona, thanks to his initaitives.
