Maussiell was a German maker, probably serving his apprenticeship under his grandfather, Matthias Maussiell. Instruments are based on an individual approach to Stainer and Tecchler models. Purfling sometimes of a herringbone design and Maussiell frequently carved a lion or woman's head for a scroll.
