Testore, Paolo Antonio

Active 1725-1760, Milan

The second son of Carlo Antonio, he often used an inferior opaque brown varnish, and was inconsistent in model and arching. His wood often seems to have been assembled from scraps and off-cuts, but nevertheless usually supports a fine tone. He taught Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi, who seems to have worked for him at some stage, but was completely eclipsed in craftsmanship by his pupil.
