An Exceptional Sloping-shoulder Guitar by Johann Georg Stauffer, Vienna 1830

Description

A fine grain spruce soundboard, bound in repeating ebony and maple stringing encasing mother-of-pearl shapes, similar rosette, an ebony bridge with linear extremities, a solid maple back and sides of tight curl, a clock key adjustable neck veneered with alternating strips of bone and ebony, ebonised head with rear mounted machines enclosed within a silver-plated brass plate, a floating ebony fretboard with a solid silver but hollowed-out nut and twenty-three frets. String length 639mm.
