Brompton’s is delighted to be the premier sponsor of the Young British Soloists’ Competition

BROMPTON’S IS DELIGHTED TO BE THE PREMIER SPONSOR OF THE

YOUNG BRITISH SOLOISTS’ COMPETITION
FRIDAY 26TH JUNE – WIGMORE HALL

Orchid Music Charitable Trust announces finalists of Young British Soloists’ Competition in association with Brompton’s.

The Orchid Music Charitable Trust (OMCT) has selected the four young musicians who will go through to the final of its first annual competition at Wigmore Hall.

Louise Alder (soprano), Evelyne Berezovsky (piano), Amy Green (saxophone) and Mathilde Milwidsky (violin) will perform live before a panel of renowned music professionals on 26 June, and one of them will be chosen to make a fully funded album on Orchid Classics.

This year’s jury features: Catherine Bott (Classic FM presenter and soprano), John Gilhooly (Director, Wigmore Hall), Paul Hughes (General Manger, BBC Symphony Orchestra), James Jolly (Editor in Chief, Gramophone), Guy Johnston (cellist), Martin Roscoe (pianist) and Elizabeth Watts (soprano).

The rigorous application process involved candidates submitting a live unedited CD recording, the proposed final audition programme of up to 40 minutes, a proposal for the album repertoire and letters of recommendation from music industry figures. Matthew Trusler, Artistic Director of Orchid Classics, and James Brown, Managing Director of Hazard Chase Limited, undertook the selection of finalists, aided by experienced artist managers at Hazard Chase, whose own artists are ineligible for the award.

Matthew Trusler commented: “As Artistic Director of Orchid Classics, I have been delighted to be involved in the selection of the finalists. I now look forward to sitting back and enjoying their performances at Wigmore Hall, leaving the final decision in the hands of our distinguished jury, to whom we express our sincere thanks for their involvement and support.”

The Orchid Music Charitable Trust is grateful to its founder donors, including the premium sponsor Brompton’s Auctioneers, EFG Private Bank, Kirker Holidays, Lark Insurance, Smith & Williamson; and to Wigmore Hall, Classic FM and Gramophone Magazine, who are partners in the competition.

Members of the public are warmly invited to the final of the competition at Wigmore Hall on Friday 26 June, 12-4pm. Tickets are available from the Hall’s box office: 020 7935 2141 or www.wigmore-hall.org.uk at a cost of £5 each.
